Fella contacted us in need of brand creation and maintenance for their growing business, whilst helping them to continue to prove their leading position in the hair and beauty industry.

BRAND IDENTITY
Fella is a modern take on the classic barbershop with mid-century fixings such as vintage cash tills and green-felt-covered cinema seats.
Walls depicting modern-day London, in a classic green and white toile-de-jouy inspired pattern, are soundtracked by a selection of vinyl.
The brand identity represents the vibrant character of the business and appeals to culturally engaged individuals where self-care is a priority. The brand holds a friendly, relatable and professional tone.
The colour palette was inspired from the mid-century era and approached in a bold contemporary way.
Drawn in Adobe Illustrator with a freehand feel, the logo offers a craft-specialist visual which is a nod to the professionalism and passion from each member of the Fella team.

We designed and built a website for Fella with the goal to increase customer bookings, explain services and offer aftercare products through an online store.
It required a booking system integration, news-style updates surrounding the business, display of their seasonal look-books and an online shop with Fella's recommended haircare and styling products.
The design, led from the branding, needed to be clean, easy to navigate and for visitors to efficiently book appointments through.
It was important for the website to hold a position on Page One of search engines and we ensured all pages were Search Engine Optimised, while all images were titled individually for Google image searches.
Successfully, Fella is visible on Page One with the search terms ‘Barbershop Canterbury’, ‘Barbershop Folkestone’ and with its most recent expansion into Soho, it currently ranks at the top of page two with search term ‘Barbershop Soho’. It also ranks highly on Page One using the search term ‘Fella’ – second only to the definition of the word itself.
The online shop needed to be easily manageable in the back-end for updates, cost adjustments and promotions – which Squarespace’s own Control Management System (CMS) is ideal for.
We decided to avoid using product stock images supplied from various manufacturers and photographed them individually, to offer a visually appealing shopping experience with brand continuity.
PRINT DESIGN
Fella regularly introduces new products, services and offers which requires updates to ongoing campaigns and printed marketing materials.
Often overlooked or deemed unnecessary by some businesses, Fella understands the importance of tangible and permanent brand placements.
We help to ensure the brand is visible, consistent and holds its memorable quality, through its print advertising, business cards, price lists, staff handbooks and promotional posters.
PRODUCT PHOTOGRAPHY
We felt it was important for Fella to carry its own brand product photography style to avoid a clash of imagery on their web-store.
Without it, Fella would have various stock product images as supplied by the manufacturers.
This not only helps keep the product section coherent, it also enhances the visual appeal of the products and supports the user experience.
